about

Allan Vaché and the equally talented Antti Sarpila (from Finland) make for a potent combination on this frequently heated trad jazz date, which is a sort of tribute to Soprano Summit. With pianist Mark Shane, bassist Len Skeat and drummer Joe Ascione forming a swinging rhythm section, the two clarinetists (who have complementary but fairly distinctive sounds) jam such tunes as "Fidgety Feet," "Meet Me Tonight in Dreamland," "I Know That You Know" and "Some of These Days." Virtually all of the Nagel-Heyer releases will be of interest to Dixieland and mainstream collectors and this live outing is no exception.
